Predators:
    Giraffes are hunted only by lions, crocodiles, and humans.  Adults have little to fear from the big cats, since they can kill a lion with one swipe of their massive front hoof.  However, only about half of baby giraffes reach the end of their first year, and many are killed within the first few minutes of life.  Even adult giraffes can be ambushed and killed by the Nile crocodile when they settle in for a (relaxing?) drink.  The fact that they have to bend so far down makes it easier for the crocodile to grab them, so they generally go to water holes in groups and take turns keeping watch.
